Meet the Photographer!

It all started with a morning walk…

During the lockdown, Rebekah Atkins needed a way to get out of the house and she began taking walks with her two-year-old daughter, Nora, and newborn baby, Fitz, where they live in Alabama. In the beginning, Rebekah captured moments with her babies and the scenery on her phone, but something about these walks rejuvenated her love for photography and she decided to pursue it professionally. And thus, Morning Walks Photography was born.

Rebekah has always had a passion for looking at life through the camera lenses. In middle

school, she was given a film camera and, yes, she was that person on family vacations, always playing the trip’s official photographer. As Rebekah grew up, the love of photography stayed and she dreamed about majoring in graphic design and photography. However, like many college students, she went with a more responsible major and chose healthcare. She’s been a Respiratory Therapist for five years now.

While Rebekah has experience doing senior portraits, engagements and weddings, and maternity shoots, she wants to start focusing mainly on family shoots and boudoir. Rebekah loves working with kids and the family dynamic. And boudoir because she “love[s] when a woman feels good about herself and [she loves] to help her get there and see how others see her.”

Rebekah and her home studio are about an hour south of Birmingham in Weogufka. (All together now: Wee-Oh-Guff-Ka.) Throwing it back to being the trip photographer on childhood family vacations, she is definitely up for the adventuring of traveling for photo shoots.

When she’s not capturing a family’s story with her camera, Rebekah’s other hobbies include keeping her humans alive, working with her church’s youth group, teaching Bible Study, and working with her husband on their small family farm consisting of a pasture, chickens, and a garden.

Interested in the story Rebekah’s photography can tell for you? Try taking a walk with her. After all, that’s how it began.

Bren Atkins

Bren is Rebekah's other half, and her biggest supporter. He loves all the things any self-respecting southern man enjoys most: hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Bren is Rebekah's second shooter for weddings and events. In his spare time Bren enjoys outdoor and wildlife photography.
